Man. That's an awesome video! Thank you for the kind words! I really like my vest set-up. It survived 2 canoe dunkings yesterday, and I didn't lose a thing.. I like that knife a lot. It has a really useful looking shape.

Too bad the Finnish GM bags have gotten so scarce. All the sources that had tons of them for years are now out of stock, prices way up on individual bags.

Dont get a rechargeable headlamp. They dont last more than a few hours and then you are screwed. Get battery powered and carry a ton of AAA batteries.

I use this pot with a Soto windmaster triflex, quicker but more importantly it’s more fuel efficient for longer sections so I can take just one small canister. Moved from a toaks titanium pot with MSR pocket rocket, so this setup is slightly heavier but worth the lower anxiety on fuel usage

I don't think it's fair of you to say one system is better than the other. Both have their advantages. The 10 C's is NOT a "1 item" list of 10 items, it is a list of 10 categories of tools that are beneficial to survival and most difficult to reproduce in the wild, that's it. The 10 essentials is a list of gear that was directed toward hikers and climbers. People should know both systems and take what they want from them. Most of the 10 essentials are part of the 10 C's. I carry Items from the 10 Cs with other things from the 10 essentials. That kit has served me well for a long time. Learn both and use them together.

For the Tea-lite candle, light it and set it on a thin piece of tree bark. Slide it in under the fire lay and let it burn under your twigs. Works great for damp tinder. Once the fire is established, slide the candle out from under the fire and save it for later.

Nice setup. I old and stubborn and still using my modified medium Alice along with modified duece gear. I usually stay out for 2 to 3 days, or as long as my wife will let me!😆

I dont know if anyone else likes this. but I absolutley love GV frosted wheats that I dip in Jiff Penut butter. I get a 24 oz box of frosted wheats and a 40 oz jar of Jiff for under $10.00, and its like 8800 calories. Always feels like Im eating something substantial with a satisfying crunch, lots of fiber, filling penut butter, and sweet frosting. I live this much better than any bars. I also bring nutella for a change up, or a combo...lol.

I've tangentally been aware of the prepper community. Never understood the bug out bag concept. I'm just going to live in the woods as society collapses? Ya ok. Glad the community is coming around to a go bag concept where you are just prepared to get out of the current spot to find another.

Will the chest pack hold a full sized pistol? ie Glock 17…

Perhaps beef it up some . Grommet rings . Larger rope . Plastic tent stakes , etc . Or just do all that with a heavy duty nylon tarp .

Just a heads up, I've seen videos of the windlass breaking on the Rhino Rescue TQs. As in, the stick on the tourniquet literally SNAPS when you're tightening it.

The Petrol pot is not titanium, it's anodized aluminum.

other than no way to carry ammo mags for your pistol or ar-15. it is a good start. just make sure your ifak, is fully stocked. and you should have two tourniquets on that belt. flashlight( not a cheap trash or a “tactual” , but a good solid real one, using D cells). spare batteries for everything you use. ( me 4-D, flash light 5-AAA, hearing protection/ mounted radio. 2-N, gun sight, spare for the hand held radio).

I always thought a nimble "extra weight" carrier could be an golf bag on wheels...

I'll stick to my mylar from Airstream.

I agree all these different terms for basically the same are a bit over the top. So I don't make a difference between a bushcraft or survival knife but call them all camp knives. I don't make a difference between a BOB, GHB, etc. but just call it a grab (and/or go) bag. If your house is on fire or you're going on a road trip it's the bag you grab and go so it must always be ready. I prefer the 'grey man' tactic so no camo bag for me and everything inside the bag. What items you need depends to much on location, climate, etc.

that vest would make a great fishing vest, organize your tackle without having to use a bigger tackle box if you have to hike to your fishing spots

Has anybody ever tried mesquite in place of pine fat wood? I don't exactly live (thankfully) in the pine-sol forest.

Love military surplus, been getting it for over 40yrs, that’s all we had! including clothing .Most of my gear is old school but I do like some of the modern stuff. I just ordered that AF survival vest, a piece of gear I have been wanting for a long time but did know where to get it so thanks for this video!

I know it’s late, and not to be supercritical, but pull bottles are neither airtight nor watertight. You can see many posts on the pharmacy subreddit of people who come into pharmacies trying to get drugs replaced after the “wash” them by forgetting them in their pocket and they go through the wash cycle. Granted a washing machine is a much harsher environment then most of us will encounter, but for a few extra dollars you can pick up a water/airtight container. As an aside many people, back when marijuana was more criminalized than now, have been busted as those pill bottles aren’t airtight.

good prices but the site is random, no organization anyway my military surplus gear has gotten STICKY the waterproof urethane coating has gone off so I'm OFF of surplus but my old ALICE gear is still pristine
